So, you’ve decided to reduce wrinkles — will you choose Botox® — or maybe Dysport® — or should you choose Xeomin®…?

Did you know that Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are three different brand names for injectable neuromodulators?

Neuromodulators work by temporarily paralyzing a targeted muscle area on the face to ease the appearance of wrinkles.

Although all three of these brands work to reduce wrinkles, they are not the same. The biggest difference between Xeomin and the others is that Xeomin contains only one ingredient: botulinum toxin A. It is referred to as a “naked injectable.”

An advantage of containing only one ingredient is that the proteins that may trigger a negative response by the immune system are removed, which may lead to fewer side effects. Xeomin is also the only one that does not need to be refrigerated during distribution.

Here at Altman Aesthetic Center, we offer all three of these FDA approved brands. I have had great success with all three, but I am noticing that patients are gaining interest in Xeomin because it is the most pure of the three. It is also a good option for those patients who have stopped responding to Dysport and Botox.
